about

Being very involved in environmental, peace and social justice causes, I wrote this catch-all anthem promoting the idea of it being everyboby's duty to work for what's right. Recorded live at Christmas party in 1998. Edits done later.

lyrics

Proletariat Fight Song
by John Beccia

CHORUS - We must be strong to carry it on
It takes you so long when changing right from what's wrong
We cannot hide, we must now decide
To join in the fight of changing wrong into right

The men who have the money are the ones who write the laws
The law's designed to keep the rich man rich, and poor man poor
The poor men must see thru it, and take each others hand
And join the fight to have the right to protect and love the land
REPEAT CHORUS

The men who serve our country are dying overseas
In foreign places, with our leaders saying "We're there to keep the peace."
But everyone knows better, we fight to protect our wealth
Young men die,and I wonder why they die for someone else
REPEAT CHORUS

(Chorus and last verse sung simultaneaously)
Let's take the money for the bombs, and feed a hungry world
Let's make the powermen take blame for the wrongs that have occurred
The answer's in your heart, my friend, the power's in your love
To all unite, and change this life into one that we're proud of
REPEAT CHORUS-twice
