Diablo Down
written by John Beccia
Thousands of people marchin'... marchin' along the beach
We've got to raise our voices for the things that we believe
We can't accept the risk of nuclear madness here in our town
Marchin' into the canyon.....got to tear Diablo down
Marchin' into the canyon..... got to tear Diablo down
Shoutin' the words of protest.....Singin' the songs of love
Hopin' to change this to somethin' that we're dreamin' of
We can't accept the danger of nuclear waste forever around
Marchin' into the canyon.....got to tear Diablo down
Marchin' into the canyon..... got to tear Diablo down
The greediness of the corporation
Killin' our earth and sellin' our souls
Two hundred-fifty-thousand years of radiation
Will take it's toll-oh-oh
Take it upon your shoulders.....Take it into your hands
We've got to take responsibility while we can
We can't accept the fate of radioactive poison around
Marchin' into the canyon.....got to tear Diablo down
Marchin' into the canyon..... got to tear Diablo down

Corporation Rules
So many of us crying......so many of us down
So many of us trying to find jobs that can’t be found
They take away our savings.....they take away all hope
And leave so many hanging from this cliff without a rope
CHORUS
While they blame it on the taxes and our schools
In this world where wall street robs us and the corporation rules
While we sail on this sinking ship of fools
In this world where wall street robs us and the corporation rules
The corporation rules
One time we had a future....but now that time is past
And now we realize that every empire does not last
We struggle to keep up now..... while laws are changed to please
To maximixe the profits of the corporate entities
REPEAT CHORUS
With no one to depend on..... so many are distraught
The system seems so broken and the politician’s bought
We’re only seeking justice to bring this truth to light
If only God could trust us to bring change and do what’s right
REPEAT CHORUS

Proletariat Fight Song
by John Beccia
CHORUS - We must be strong to carry it on
It takes you so long when changing right from what's wrong
We cannot hide, we must now decide
To join in the fight of changing wrong into right
The men who have the money are the ones who write the laws
The law's designed to keep the rich man rich, and poor man poor
The poor men must see thru it, and take each others hand
And join the fight to have the right to protect and love the land
REPEAT CHORUS
The men who serve our country are dying overseas
In foreign places, with our leaders saying "We're there to keep the peace."
But everyone knows better, we fight to protect our wealth
Young men die,and I wonder why they die for someone else
REPEAT CHORUS
(Chorus and last verse sung simultaneaously)
Let's take the money for the bombs, and feed a hungry world
Let's make the powermen take blame for the wrongs that have occurred
The answer's in your heart, my friend, the power's in your love
To all unite, and change this life into one that we're proud of
REPEAT CHORUS-twice

Fields

|

Fields
written by John Beccia
Deep in Central Mexico, the figure of a man
At the ending of a planted field
Standing there subservantly, a flag held in his hand
A worker of the land, a life so real
CHORUS-The fields before him stretching
Far, as far as eye can see
Who knows what sickness he'll be catching
Then wonders how it came to be
In the distance low clouds rise, the heat is beating down
You can hear the hum though far away
Now the plane comes into veiw and flies close to the ground
A white mist trailing down, a steady spray
Repeat chorus
No protective clothes are worn, there's burning in his eyes
Herbicidal sweat upon his brow
Though his flag is badly torn, he waves it toward the skies
His vision blurry-eyed, his throat is sore
Repeat Chorus
Back at home he can't sit still, he walks across the floor
Stares down at the baby in the straw
Once again, he feels the chill, again he asks the Lord
"Why is the child deformed? The night is still.
Repeat Chorus
And wonders how it came to be..........

Mandela’s Free
(by John Beccia)
CHORUS-
Mandela’s free, Mandela’s free
With him he freed his people......Mandela’s free
Mandela’s free, Mandela’s free
With him he freed his people......Mandela’s free
So many years that he spent in jail
They tried to change him, to no avail
He always believed that he would not fail
Now Mandela’s free
REPEAT CHORUS
They couldn’t stop him with prison walls
All of his people heard freedom’s call
He never stopped till apartheid falls
Now Mandela’s free
REPEAT CHORUS
Paving the way toward their liberty
A living symbol for all to see
Showing what South Africa could be
Now Mandela’s free
REPEAT CHORUS
Sooner or later, injustice ends
Freedom was coming, he knew not when
Slowly his country is on the mend
Now Mandela’s free
REPEAT CHORUS

What’s What
by John Beccia
Everytime I look around, I wonder where it’s goin’
Things are always speeding up and never ever slowin’
Every new election’s like a punch into the gut
Will someone please come and tell me what is what
CHORUS - What’s what?
What’s your number? What’s your name?
What’s what?
What’s your angle? What’s your game?
Every answer that I get is if, or and, or but
Will someone please come and tell me what is what
We used to be a country free, built on immigration
Now it seems our policies are based on domination
Politicians passing out each favor for a buck
Will someone please come and tell me what is what
REPEAT CHORUS
The rich stay rich, the poor stay poor by whose determination
We pass our laws and fight our wars to help the corporations
Social and enviromental programs just get cut
Will someone please come and tell me what is what
REPEAT CHORUS

Moneylove

Moneylove
by John Beccia
There's lucrative lurkers living up on the hill
For power these people are dressed to kill
Polluting with poison for drilling and mining and all at will
For moneylove
The energy monsters get their desires
The laws that protect us are under fire
While power from sun and from wind and from water is shoved aside
For moneylove
The rich getting richer, the poor stay poor
The number of jobless is growing more
Small business is dying, big business is thriving, you know it's all
For moneylove
The large corporations are guaranteed
While Mother Earth suffers from all this greed
Our natural resources divided among them to fill the need
For moneylove
They're cutting back programs that help the poor
They're building more bombs for the next world war
Will it be Yemen, Angola, Rwanda, Korea, or El Salvador
Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, or Georgia, there's so many more
Places where people are dying and children are crying, you know
It's all for moneylove
For moneylove
For moneylove
For moneylove

Will you deceive us with those same old lies?

Then try to feed us with the same old stale replies
Fmaj7 A7----------
Can we be so unwise ?

Does history just repeat?....What does it matter when the well runs dry?
C D7 Fmaj7 A7
Here in the rising heat.....What does it matter when the well runs dry?

You don’t get richer from the things you buy

Why do our children cry?

Genetically Modified World
by Brian Stark
Well DNA is natural. It’s the buiding block of life,
And when the good Lord put it together, you know, I think he did it up right.
He made lots of different organisms, a complex web of life
Each one depending on another and so the circle, it closed up tight
And then along came a man and a microscope, and he seperated the gene
When he put ‘em all back together, he made lots of strange un-natural things
And now food crops grow on the ocean floor. Cows, they grow on trees.
Now the ranchers gaze while their oysters graze
On grass that depends on a hormone spray
In our genetically modified world, In our genetically modified world
Well now the corporations they will tell you it’s about feeding people in need
But it isn’t really very hard to see that it’s really just about corporate greed
They patent the food in the third world and then they watch their profits grow
But the third world people can’t say no because they’re economic slaves of the WTO
And now their food crops grow on the ocean floor. Cows, they grow on trees.
Now the ranchers gaze while their oysters graze
On grass that depends on a hormone spray
In our genetically modified world, In our genetically modified world
Now when the corporations own creation, with who shall we worship then
With the First United Church of Syngenta, or Monsanto of the Nazarene
Of course, we’ll always have the Daoist, but they’re now D,O,W, DOW
They’ll be popular with all except the population of Bhopal
Because their chickens now only lay export crops. The sacred cows grow on trees.
Now the ranchers gaze while their oysters graze
On grass that depends on a hormone spray
That travels down the river into the bay
Where it bio-accumulates everyday
Till our ecosystem’s in decay
In our genetically modified world, In our genetically modified world (repeated)

Dreams Before They Die
by John Beccia
So many people saying that we're crazy
Nothing we can do will change the world
All of us are dreaming of
A future built upon our love
A love that holds these things we're dreaming of
We're dreaming of
Time's a raging river rushin' right on by
Got to reach out for your dreams before they die
Time's a raging river rushin' right on by
Got to reach out for your dreams before they die
Every person has the power inside them
To stand up for the things they think are right
Everybody's reaching for
The key that opens heavens' door
The door that holds the things we're dreaming of
We're dreaming of
Time's a raging river rushin' right on by
Got to reach out for your dreams before they die
Time's a raging river rushin' right on by
Got to reach out for your dreams before they die
The human race creates it's own destruction
So many different ways to end it all
Got to stand up while we can
Love in our hearts, sweat on our hands
The hands that hold the things we're dreaming of
We're dreaming of
Time's a raging river rushin' right on by
Got to reach out for your dreams before they die
Time's a raging river rushin' right on by
Got to reach out for your dreams before they die
